Eudaimonia Tasmanian Cycling Tours and Hobart Wheelers Dirt Devils present the Cygnet Cycling Festival, encompassing the ‘Hell of the South’ road cycling event – one of the most iconic events on the Tasmanian cycling calendar.
The Cygnet Cycling Festival is a family friendly event and an exciting opportunity for people of all abilities to cycle together as a family or for competitive fun.
Whether you want to enter the hardy ‘Hell of the South’ race, a social ride around the picturesque town of Cygnet or to join the Bicycle Network’s ‘Get on your Bike’ program – if you have a bike, there’s something for you!
Hell of the South
A picturesque 60km race right in the heart of Cygnet. A unique and iconic event to challenge all levels of cyclist.
A local tradition run by Hobart Wheelers for over 20 years sees this handicapped race take riders up grueling hills, along the flowing coast and put their bike handling skills to the test on the infamous 8km gravel section.
Whether a seasoned pro or weekend warrior, this is the one Tasmanian event that should never be missed.
Social Ride
To complement the ‘Hell of the South’ race, this year’s event will provide a more relaxed social ride.
The ride begins with a gentle 3.7km climb out of Cygnet, but rest assured, things get easier after that! After a climb, comes a fun, flowy descent before then turning off onto Cygnet Coast Road where the road will be all yours from here on out!
Enjoy the picturesque Cygnet Coast Road as you follow the coastline for the remaining 26km into Cygnet.
Junior Ride
Let your kids test out their legs on a 20km out and back ride all on closed roads!
Lymington back toward Cygnet Coast Road for 10km. Riders will hit the gravel road for a few kms before turning around to finish at the Port Cygnet Cannery.
BMX Event
Local legend George Farah will facilitate a BMX event for the kids in Burton’s Reserve.
Back on your Bike!
The team at Bicycle Network are going to be running their ‘Back on your Bike’ program during the event aimed at getting you to dust off your old bike, move, get healthy and connect with others.
Burtons Reserve
A number of bike shops, workshops, face painting and plenty of family friendly activities are going to be held at Burtons Reserve, right in the heart of Cygnet. So whether you’re racing, participating in an event or dragged along by bike mad family, there will be something for everyone!
