Abbey on Main offers visitors to the Huon Valley a luxury self contained accommodation experience and is conveniently located right in the centre
of Franklin. The Old Methodist Church at the front of the property is heritage listed and dates back to 1860.
The accommodation is suitable for up to four guests and has a large 180sqm open plan living space with separate lounge, formal dining, reading areas and a fully appointed kitchen with laundry.
Abbey on Main overlooks the beautiful Huon River and is a short walk from the local restaurants and attractions that Franklin has to offer.
The guest accommodation was originally the old church hall (circa 1939) which serviced the adjoining church and was later used as a Sunday school. In the early 1990’s, a mezzanine level was added along with a full bathroom and kitchen. All areas have now been elegantly appointed with antiques and collectables to complement the Art Deco era of the building.
The main open plan living area consists of a full library, lounge area and formal dining. A wood heater and extensive central heating system will keep you warm and comfortable during the colder months. The library has a range of books, magazines, board games, movies and a large screen smart TV that will cater for all of your entertainment requirements during your stay.
The main bedroom (with King size bed) and guest bathroom are located on the mezzanine level. The luxurious beds at Abbey on Main feature plush mattress toppers and quality Egyptian cotton linens. Goose down comforters and cashmere blankets are provided during the colder months.
The second bedroom with Queen size bed is located on the ground level and has French doors that lead out to the beautiful private gardens.
The fully equipped kitchen ensures that all of your catering needs are covered during your stay. The kitchen floor is decorated in mosaic tiles that incorporate a Victorian teaset that was uncovered when the foundations were excavated in the early 1990’s. Initial breakfast provisions are provided for all guests and there is a Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher, full oven and refrigerator / freezer available.
The kitchen opens out to an alfresco entertaining area and private gardens which are surrounded by a stone wall. Enjoy balmy spring afternoons under the large olive tree or just sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the view across to the Huon River.
There is also a variety of excellent places to eat in Franklin; bars, restaurants and cafe’s offering Italian, Thai and western meals using fresh ingredients.
