Fat Pig Farm is the home of Matthew Evans and his family. Along with his partner Sadie Chrestman, his son Hedley and his farm and restaurant team, they run a 70-acre farm and paddock to plate venue in the Huon Valley, south of Hobart.
They have Wessex Saddleback pigs, chooks, a beef herd, bees, goats and a market garden. They milk their full cream cows, harvest apples from their heritage orchard and have an olive grove which they plan to use for their own olive oil needs in the near future.
They welcome guests to their farm for cookery schools, family farm tours, small-holding workshops, and weekly slow long-table lunches.
Matthew Evans is well known for being the host of the SBS television show, Gourmet Farmer. He is also a food writer and the author of a range of books on food, farming, and sustainable food production.
