The Experience
Home Hill produces award winning wines from the picturesque Huon Valley.
Home Hill is surrounded by beautifully manicured vines which once was an apple orchard. Located in a small country town called Ranelagh. In 1991 Terry & Rosemary Bennett planted just 4 hectares of vines. These vines were Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a rare grape variety called Sylvaner. This adventure was a hobby. Little did they know that in years to come they were going to have an architectural designed rammed earth restaurant, cellar door, winery and a 12 hectare vineyard.
There were many hurdles to jump, especially dealing with the cold climate of the Huon Valley. Frost was the major concern. Home Hill implemented equipment to overcome the damage that icy cold frost can have on the vines. The bush fires in the Huon area last year destroyed our 2019 Pinot Noir vintage as it was smoked tainted. However our innovated winemaker produced a White Pinot Noir, which is amazingly crisp, fresh and easy to drink.
Home Hill is a family business. Our most successful award was the Jimmy Watson trophy for the 2014 Kelly’s Reserve Pinot Noir. Winning Vineyard of the Year in 2015 was a testament to the viticulture skills of Terry and son Sean. As a family we all share the passion for fine wine and food and customer service. We know that at the moment you cannot experience our food, have your exquisite wedding or function here, but you can still enjoy our premium awarding wines in the relaxation of your own home.
