Welcome to a creative day of mindfulness. Spend the day with us in our small studio in Cygnet. “THE AXE” workshop teaches you to carve a spoon from a piece of ‘green wood’ using traditional hand tools such as the froe, carving axe, drawknife, hook knife and sloyd knife. The ultimate spoon carving experience. Suitable only for those comfortable wielding a carving axe. This workshop runs from 10am – 4pm.
We will provide you with all materials, tools to use and a yummy morning tea. At the end of the day, you will have your own hand created masterpiece- functional and beautiful! We can’t wait to share this wonderful skill with you.
We are husband and wife team Michelle & David Rauenbusch and we work together from our home studio in gorgeous Cygnet. We began making furniture and homewares in 1997 as a response to our own needs. We couldn’t find anything unique and well made, with soul. We run workshops in spoon carving as well as selling a variety of unique items hand crafted from vintage timbers by David.
