Franklin Riverside Walk

The 500 metre walkway follows the Huon River north of the Wooden Boat Centre.

Many native Tasmanian trees and shrubs have been planted on either side of the track, attracting many small bush birds, particularly when the shrubs are in flower. Excellent views of the Huon River and its numerous aquatic bird species, the Franklin Marina and Egg Islands can be seen from the track.

There are seats and picnic tables to invite you to stay a while and enjoy the scenery.

The track is managed and maintained by Franklin Landcare. The group meets at the River Walk every Thursday morning at 10am for a working bee which mainly involves weeding, slashing and planting, followed by morning tea at 11:30am. The group aims to provide habitat for our local flora and fauna, as well as a pleasant, safe environment for visitors. For more information visit the website.
