Inside Balfour House, Peter designs and builds traditional and contemporary furniture and other wooden goods from locally sourced timbers. Working with a wide range of traditional tools, Peter builds chairs, cabinets, tables, stools and many other household goods right here in his working studio. As you come in and watch him work, you are encouraged to ask questions about the unique techniques, tools and time honoured skills at use to create these special items. Peter’s aim is to create each piece with great care and and attention to detail, but also to fill it with character and something unique. He often says, “I’d like to make you something so special that your grandkids will fight over it when you’re gone.”
Peter is one member of the Artisan’s Hand, a collective of working studios inside a beautifully restored building in the heart of historic Cygnet village.
