Port Huon to Geeveston biking track

This track is funded by the Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications through its Community Development Grants Program.

Starting from the Port Huon Sports Centre you drop steeply down to the boardwalk that crosses the frog filled marshes for 500 metres.  Benches allow you to stop for the impressive view onto the Port Huon harbour.  The track then follows the highway for a short distance before entering natural habitat along the Kermandie River.  You may be lucky and find Dr Swordfish’s glass studio open where you can wonder at his amazing creations.  The track continues gently along the river and opens up to a grassy field lending itself to ball games and picnic blankets with a picnic table beside the cascading river.  You then enter the town of Geeveston and can check out the Visitor’s Centre for tourist information, cycle onto Heritage Park for bbqs, toilets and platypus spotting.

This track is owned and managed by the Huon Valley Council.

Distance: 6km return

Suggested Time: 1/2 to 1 hour

Difficulty: Grade 2. Easy to moderate. Mixed terrain.
