Port Huon to Geeveston Walking Track

This walking track is funded by the Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications through its Community Development Grants Program.

The 3km track meanders through natural habitat along the Kermandie River and connects to 500 metres of boardwalk leading throguh the marsh to the Port Huon Sports and Aquatic Centre.

This track is owned and managed by the Huon Valley Council.

 

Distance: 6km return

Suggested Time: 1 1/2 hours

Difficulty: Grade 2. Easy to moderate. Mixed terrain.

Access: 2WD accessible

 

Getting There:

Turn off the Huon Highway at Port Huon, entering the car park to the Port Huon Sports and Aquatic Centre opposite the Kermandie Hotel and next to the marina. The walk starts at the roadside end of the gravel car park behind the Sports Centre.

 

Plan Ahead

Tasmania’s remote areas are beautiful however weather and track conditions can change suddenly. Mobile reception in many of these areas can be limited or non existent.

Be prepared for the walk or activity. Plan ahead, bring enough water, check the alerts, and make sure you are comfortable with the difficulty rating.
